Dental crowns and bridges are two of the solutions to more serious tooth problems when fillings will not suffice or a tooth is missing.
A crown may be made of porcelain, ceramic or gold and its design and shape is bespoke to the patient’s needs. It is placed either on top of a post, implant or a specially prepared natural tooth base. It will match the adjacent teeth both in colour and size. Porcelain is often backed with a precious metal to give it strength. Gold crowns are sometimes used for back teeth.
